Submission day

Good news!

I've managed to complete my website, and obviously due to the fact that your actually reading this, my blog as well.

Today is submission day for the peer review portion of the assignment which basically entails someone from my peer group randomly be assigned to look at my web site and blog page, reviewing them and giving it a grade out of 5. Obviously a 5/5 is the only mark possible at this stage!!! ;). This stage of the assessment process is essentially a draft submission and any feedback will be used to tweak my ideas and sites so that when they are submitted for grading by my tutor Helen Kosniowska at the end of the week they are looking their best.

A major part of the assignment is the social learner requirement and it took me quite a while to wrap my head around what would be the easiest and most efficient social media application for people to access my cocktail party page and leave their ideas. I've settled on using Pinterest as it provides a simple way for outsiders to provide links to pictures and websites straight onto my page so that I can make informed decisions about the outcome of my party. Cocktails are ultimately a visual product so being able to see a representation of the finished product was the reason I decided Pinterest was the way to go. If you’re interested in adding your ideas take a trip to www.pinterest.com and get started. Detailed sign up instructions are available on my web page www.whataweb.zohosites.com if you get lost.

I looked at twitter as an alternative medium but found its way to clumsy and would probably not have the same visual results that I am requiring. Most of my friends don't use Twitter and have no desire to use it so it was never going to be practical.

My Facebook page is also a viable means of getting and staying in contact with me and considering that most people, well most people I know, have a Facebook account it can be in many cases the easiest way to communicate ideas. The problem when it comes to my party is that it's more difficult to keep all the information that I'll be receiving in order and easily accessible. Piterest will give me the one stop shop moment! If you want to send your recipes via face book you can do so by finding me at http://www.facebook.com/lance.wood.39?ref=tn_tnmn

Time to submit my work now and lay it all on the line. Wish me luck!
